Arriving in France and joining up with Pete, I came down with a miserable cold. This stopped my flying in the Nationals (29 August - 4 September). Considering the strong conditions, this may have been fortunate (9 reserves deployed, including Pete's and several crashes - everyone more or less OK).
Coughing and snuffling I still enjoyed seeing the huge gaggles from the ground - and watching the griffin vultures and other wildlife in the Verdun Gorge.
